Florida State cruises past North Carolina, 77-67

The Florida State Seminoles cruised into third place in the ACC and past the North Carolina Tar Heels, 77-67.

Florida State jumped out to a double-digit lead early in the first half and never really looked back.

Chris Singleton led the Seminoles with 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Deividas Dulkys scored 17, including five three-pointers, off of the bench.

Leonard Hamilton’s team is becoming more and more dangerous because they are showing some offensive ability in addition to their strong defense.

The win certainly moves the Seminoles a step closer toward securing an NCAA tournament berth.

Florida State rolls past Virginia, 69-50

The Florida State Seminoles picked up an important road win with a 69-50 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers.

Chris Singleton scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Luke Loucks finished with 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Seminoles turned what was a close game in the early going into a rout in the second half.

Florida State managed to pull away for a nine-point lead by halftime, and the margin quickly grew from there.

The win gets them one step closer to an NCAA tournament berth, although they still have plenty of work left.

Florida State beats Miami, 71-65

The Florida State Seminoles picked up an important ACC victory with a 71-65 win over the rival Miami Hurricanes.

In a game that was close the whole way, Florida State took a one-point lead into halftime and was able to maintain it the rest of the way.

Florida State got a helping hand from an unlikely source, as reserve Luke Loucks came in off of the bench and scored a game-high 19 points.

The Seminoles got over the .500 mark in the conference with the victory and continue to hang around in the race for the ACC regular season champion.

Florida State’s two losses to Maryland certainly hurt, but with how crazy and bunched up the ACC is this year, who knows what could happen.

Seminoles come up short against Terps, 71-67

The Florida State Seminoles lost a critical home game in a 71-67 loss to the Maryland Terrapins.

The loss means the Seminoles fell in both matchups against Maryland this season, which could come back to haunt them in the wide-open ACC race.

The team had plenty of support from the usually quiet home fans, who were a bit too rowdy if you would ask some folks, specifically the Terps.

Maryland star point guard Greivis Vasquez was the target of racial slurs for much of the game and had a beer dumped on him as he left the court following the victory.

Florida State remains a player in the ACC race and still sits in the middle of the pack, but another couple of losses would drop them out of contention.

DeMercy leaving Florida State

Junior forward Jordan DeMercy has left Florida State because he is disappointing over a drop in playing time.

DeMercy plans to look to play at another school, but transferring as a junior is not an easy task.

He will have his hands full with the NCAA to let him play his entire senior year at another college.

Head coach Leonard Hamilton was more ambigeous about the situation, saying DeMercy was leaving for personal reasons.

DeMercy must have been really playing poorly for Hamilton not to give him significant playing time given the fact that Florida State lacks a lot of scorers.
