The Florida State Seminoles could not take advantage of the chance to knock off a high-ranked team in a 70-56 loss to the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils.
Florida State’s defense kept them in the game, but their woeful offense couldn’t seem to execute.
Chris Singleton and Solomon Alabi led the Seminoles with 14 points a piece, and Michael Snaer added 13.
The team shot just 4-13 from three-point range and under 50 percent at the free throw line. Those numbers won’t get you a road win in the ACC no matter who you play.
The Seminoles seem to be nowhere near the team they were earlier in the year when they snuck into the top 25.

The Florida State Seminoles re-established themselves as ACC contenders in a 68-66 win over the No. 19 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Center Solomon Alabi knocked down two-free throws with 20 seconds to play and his team trailing by one to give the ‘Noles the victory.
Alabi has to be one of the best 7-foot free-throw shooters in the country, hitting over 83 percent at the line. He said he wasn’t nervous because he practices them on a regular basis.
Florida State nearly lost the game because of free-throw shooting, making just 10 of their 21 attempts. Chris Singleton led the team with a career-high 23 points.
The Seminoles did a tremendous job defensively on forward Gani Lawal, holding him to just one basket for the second time this season.

The Florida State Seminoles sent legendary head coach Bobby Bowden out the right way in a 33-21 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Gator Bowl.
The Seminoles managed to send him out a winner despite the fact that they have had a disappointing season and were without their top player, quarterback Christian Ponder.
Running back Jermaine Thomas picked up the slack, running for 121 yards and two touchdowns in his strongest effort on the season.
Bowden was given the opportunity to throw the flaming spear into the center of the field before the start of the game, a ritual usually reserved for the team’s mascot.
After the victory, Bowden was carried off the field by his players before finally deciding he was more safe on the ground than in the air. He leaves the game as the second winningest coach of all-time.
